Local Tournaments
I have participated in numerous local tournaments over the years and have been doing so since I was 4 years old. I always enjoy tournaments because they give the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. In fact I have friends that I only see at tournaments because we are from different parts of Jamaica. Also, we practice different styles of martial arts and my kwoon is the only one in Jamaica that is authorised to teach Northern Shaolin Kung Fu and Yang Style Tai Chi.
I have not participated in any tournaments this year (2006) although persons from my kwoon have been given permission to participate even though the kwoon as a whole has not entered. In 2005 I entered a Martial Arts Tournament that was sponsored by the Seido Karate Organisation which was held at the University of Technology and won two events, Boys 11 to 12 years of age Brown to Black Belts Emptyhand forms and also Sparring for that division.
