Third Form

This is my Third Form web page. I was promoted to third form in September of 2006, the time has really flown by, it seems like just yesterday when I was in first form. My grades for the second form end of year examinations were reasonable with an average of 82 although the average was somewhat lower than that for my mid-year exams where my average was 88. My parents were not overjoyed by these grades as earlier in the year I had made a deal with them in order to get a cable box placed in my room. The deal was that my average would have moved from 88 upward to the mid-90's by the end of year examinations.

Unfortunately for me, my grades moved in the opposite direction and even more unfortunately for me, this did not go un-noticed with my parents (can you imagine? silly me was hoping that they wouldn't notice it - no such luck). They gave me 'the talk' about getting my grades up or face possible sanctions that went far beyond simply losing the cable box. They threatened to touch an almost sacred past-time of mine - KUNG FU. I simply cannot imagine myself not practicing kung fu and this really shook me up. In fact, I have been doing some kind of martial arts ever since I was about 4 years old and I cannot imagine life without it. I started doing karate way back then but kung fu is now my thing and I just cannot afford to lose it so I am going to re-double my efforts to improve my grades. Whew, this is very very scary stuff indeed !!!!!

I must advise though that at Campion College our grades and by extension or averages are normally very high so it is not uncommon for the person who came first in the class to have an average of 94, followed by seven (7) persons who tied for second place with an average of 88, followed by another group who all tied for ninth with an average of 84. It can be easily seen that the possibility exists for someone to have an average of 80 but still the end up well down in the placings. So it is with this in mind that we do not focus on the positions but instead on the average grades. With my average of 88 in the mid-year exams I was placed third but there were about seven of us that tied for third. I am not going to say how far down I came with an average of 82 (its much too embarrassing).

Activities of Summer 2006

Not much happened this summer as neither did I travel overseas nor did  I enter any tournaments. I continued training throughout the summer to help pass the time. I had started to learn Monkey Boxing earlier in the year and so I spent the summer working on the forms. This brings my Third Form year to an end.
