First Form

School Lojo

This is my First Form web page. I had passed my GSAT (i.e. Grade Six Achievement Test) examinations and was awarded a place at Campion College in first form (i.e. Form 16) in September 2004. There are six first forms ranging from 11 to 16 and there are two start times each day. Each odd number i.e. 11, 13 and 15 start at 8:00am while the even numbers start one hour later. This allows for much better utilization of school resources as everyone is not at lunch at the same time, there are less students needing to use the school library at any one time etc.

Each school day is divided into ten sessions of thirty-five minutes duration each. The third and seventh sessions are breaks during which time students may eat. Some students eat during the first break while others eat during the second and still there are others who eat during both. I normally eat lunch during the second break. My dad keeps telling me that I do not eat sufficient amounts of food and that it looks as though I am afraid of food. What can I say? If I am not hungry I am just not hungry. The subjects that I am currently doing are:

First Form Subjects
Mathematics Integrated Science Christian Living Personal Development
English Language English Literature Poetry Art
History Geography Music Education Spanish
Physical Education Information Technology

In addition to the above, I also participate in three extra-curricular activities. These are:

  1. Chess Club - very important for developing the ability to plan and to think strategically.
  2. Science Club - very important as I intend to be a paediatrician when I grow up.
  3. Key Club - very important for social skills and to be a responsible member of the society.

On Mondays after school I play tennis, on Tuesdays I practice chess, on Wednesdays & Thursdays I attend Homework Study Programme (HSP) and on Fridays I attend Key Club meetings. HSP is a teacher supervised session that runs from 3:30 each afternoon until 5:30 and is used to do homework and/or study. I also practice Kung Fu on Mondays (emptyhand forms), Tuesdays (weapon forms) and Fridays (sparring). I attend on some Thursdays (grappling) but I usually miss Wednesdays (kick boxing) to keep pace with my studies.

Activities of Summer 2004

During these two months, I took part in an International Chinese Martial Arts Competition held in Orlando, Florida. Competitors from around the world took part in this competition which lasted for three days. I also visited my aunt and her family in Florida after the conclusion of the tournament. In fact, another of my aunts came to see me perform at the tournament. The tournament was held at the Gaylord Palms Hotel and Spa. I entered three events as listed below.
